We have had a Basset in our family as long as Roger and I have been married.
We acquired our first pet basset in 1980. She seemed to be so much fun and just a part of our family. Three children and many bassets later, I am still hooked on them.
We acquired our first Show Basset, from Mike & Joy Torgerson/Bob & Sharon Carlson, in 1991. (Meadoway Bassets/Briarpatch Bassets). I have been training and showing ever since.
I had the Co-Top Producer of 1997, ( Ch. Briarpatch's Blaze Of Glory R.O.M.).
I am proud to have placed my Basset puppies thoughout the United States.
We have been a member of the Basset Hound Club of America since 1995.
Our outdoor kennel is sand with comfortable insulated housing, shade during the hot Summer days and heating for the younger pups during the Winter. Whelping is done inside our home so we can watch and assist Mom & babies as needed. They are then introduced to the outside kennel at approximately 6 weeks of age, depending on the litter size and outdoor conditions.
Titles that we have achieved over the years are Championships, (Obedience titles) Companion Dog, Rally Novice, Rally Advanced. Canine Good Citizens, Tracking titles, Therapy dog, and Register of Merits.
